This past week I have been relegated to the “bench” by a muscle spasm in my back. Not being able to ride is not my idea of a good time! But here is what is good. I got to watch Belinda ride Biasini This is a real treat I can assure you. Belinda rode him twice in the week and she was very happy with how he worked so hard for her. She starts him with a stretching trot.

On the Tuesday she did some trot work that included trot half pass and shoulder in. Here is a short video clip.
Sometimes Belinda would intersperse the collected work with medium trot.
On Thursday she worked on the canter. The photo below shows how she is getting him to “sit” behind and raise up his shoulders and neck. This is the ideal I try to work for and it was great to see it happening.

Belinda also did some travers ( haunches in on the long side).

Then she rode Biasini, in trot, across the arena, on the diagonal, in travers for a half pass.

She told me she wanted to get Biasini to think “passage” and this gave him more lift and air time in his trot. He remembered that from their time together on Tuesday.

To finish she rode him in a stretching trot.

I was so proud of my horse! I thought he looked amazing and what a treat it is to see a two time Olympian ride my horse and let me see how special and talented he is. Belinda told me she felt he worked hard for her and he never said “no.” That is the best thing you can ask for in a horse .
And where was I? Here is a photo of my “bench”.

I’d love to hear from you!
