Here’s the Upside!

I know that I am off with my hip fracture and that is not great but today I got to watch Lynsey Rowan ride Biasini in a lesson with my coach Belinda Trussell. That is the upside of the injury to my hip. What a treat it is to watch a talented professional ride my horse and be doing exercises that are more advanced than the work I usually do . Here is a video of their work on transitions from trot to passage and back to trot. Biasini does not do a lot of this kind of work with me so they kept it short.

Next they worked on half pass to working ( larger) pirouette and on to finish the half pass.

It is wonderful to see my horse doing so well. He really tries hard to do his best. So even though I am not able to be riding I know I am so lucky to have people like Lynsey and Belinda ride Biasini. I did give him an apple treat when he was finished his work and some cut carrots for Lynsey to give him for his stretches once his tack was off.

Toward the end of this video you can see the handles of my friend Willie Walker. I am lucky that I am able to walk with this walker and come to the barn to watch these lessons.

I’m so happy with Willie Walker that you can see Biasini and watch his beautiful work. He’s such a lucky guy to have you and Coach Belinda and Lynsey keep him in shape and take such good care of him. It’s so healing to be at the barn and enjoy the horses and be with Biasini! ❤️🐴❤️

I think I am jealous of Willie Walker. He gets to audit lessons, and I don’t! But in all seriousness, I am glad you are still getting out to the barn and able to spend time with Biasini. He sure can do some fancy moves, and I bet he appreciated the treats!

He didn’t spook at me walking in with Willie Walker but he did give me a curious look. He loves treats.

That’s good, both about Biasini accepting the walker and enjoying the treats! When I worked at a therapeutic riding center, one of my jobs was to acclimate the new horses to new objects. Things that were common place at the center, but things most horses don’t normally see. The horses selected for the program already came trained to ride and generally had calm personalities, but even so, introducing them to things like wheelchairs or oversized mounting ramps was interesting due to their varying reactions. I’m not surprised your Biasini took the walker in stride. He is a gem.

Thank you for this comment. Biasini is a gem and I was interested to note he just accepted the walker. One other horse was not so sure about it and snorted at it.
