This week Tina has given us the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #129 of Favorite images of 2020. So I shall go backwards through the year of 2020 starting with this winter season.

After a relaxing of some Covid restrictions there was a horse show at Angelstone in September. The show organizer had taken a lot of trouble to make it safe for all competitors. Masks were required at all times unless you were mounted. Distancing ,signing Covid wavers , temperature check on entry to show, and no spectators, were all part of the requirements. Here is my coach Belinda Trussell riding a horse she has in training.

Over the summer I submitted some photos, of the stars of our garden, to Cee’s Flower Of The Day challenge.

In June no one other than staff was allowed to the stable. But once the weather was good enough for riding in the outdoor arena, I could go and from a distance watch my coach Belinda Trussell ride Biasini

In Mid March Biasini and I were Reserve Champions in the FEI Freestyle Division of the White Fences Championship Series. In this photo I am with my Florida coach Lou Denizard. On that weekend the US Equestrian Federation announced all future horse shows would be cancelled due to Covid.

In January this was the sunset at White Fences show grounds. We were all happy to be showing and little did we know what was coming.

You had two partners in this wonderful journey by your side in 2020, Anne, your hubby and Biasini. Beautiful images of a crazy year.

I love your post Anne, and congratulate you again on the recognition that both you and Biasini deserve for your incredible hard work and commitment. Although I loved all of the images, which tell a terrific story, it’s the image of your husband in his support role that means the most to me. Like you, the pandemic would have been intolerable to me without the love and support of my husband. We are most fortunate to have partners who share our hopes and dreams, and are darned good Gin players too! Happy New Year to you both and sincere thanks for your continued support of our challenge.

I agree Tina. My husband and I have been together for 36 years. There may have been ups and downs in our time together but he has always been supportive of my riding and showing. And the Pandemic had brought us closer together than ever. I am happy to take part in the challenges whenever I can. They are great fun and I appreciate the work that all the Lens Artists put into them.

It is an interesting process to go back over 2020. And getting to the barn and riding is a sanity saver for sure.đ´đđ

There are moments (maybe part of a day) I could be at work or sitting at home when I feel very overwhelmed, scared of the future or scared of the virus. I have to shake it off and when I’m at the barn all of that washs away. My sanity returns. I’m feeling very blessed to have these ponies! â¤ď¸

I know that feeling Diana. I always feel so much better after being at the barn. Some years ago I had to have a dear horse ,Tommie, put down due to illness and I got another horse. He had a rare neurological disease that was not visible in the vet check and after 6 months with him I had to have him put down. I really considered giving up riding. But I decided to part board a horse at a barn I knew. He was a hunter not a dressage horse. I enjoyed riding him and every time I went to ride I felt happier. So I knew I could not give up. I got in touch with Belinda Trussell who had coached my daughter some years before and asked her to help me find a horse. She said she had a horse that she was selling and if I came to try it out she could at least see me ride as she had not seen me ride for several years. I agreed and went to try the horse. It was Biasini!đ

Aww, that’s so sad you lost Tommie. My condolences. My best friend is going through the same thing with Gracie! Only she’s had 20 good years with her but she has EPM and sadly she’s trying to figure out when is the best time to say goodbye. But like you, she thought she should just not have horses anymore, but then realized how much she would miss not having them in her life. So she’s leasing a horse at my stables. I actually posted riding Ava who she’s hoping to adopt and/or buy in the future. We are horse women who have horse blood in our veins!! Thank you for sharing, I just Love Belinda and Biasini!! â¤ď¸đ´
