Abstract: a whorl, a star, a crystal,and tracks.

This week the Lens-artists photo challenge is “Abstract”. I looked at some of the other responses and was inspired. Here are my photos.

Last night we had a blizzard and in the morning there were snow crystals stuck to the window.
Fir tree was covered snow.
Car tracks in the snow.

And my horse Biasini also provided some abstract views. A black dot on his muzzle.

A star on his forehead.

A whorl on his neck.

Thank you to Patti Moed for this interesting challenge.

Very interesting abstracts. What are your thoughts about the whorl theories?

I think that most of the theories about whorls and the horse’s personality are concerned with whorls on the forehead. Linda Tellington has a book about various things on the horse’s head, the shape of the ears, cheeks, muzzle etc. But she says you have to look at the whole picture .Biasini has what she calls a “quirk” bump on his nose. He can be quirky so that fits him. He also has cheeks and muzzle shape that would indicate he is intelligent. He only has one whorl on his forehead which is not remarkable.

I read the book. It was an interesting read. Somehow my favourite horses throughout life all had two whorls on their forehead. None of them have been easy horses, but still just right.

And they were right for me. I think we end up with the horses we need.

You’ve assembled a nice album here — and I was already needing a reminder, that snow and ice can be interesting and beautiful sometimes, and not just a slippery annoyance. ❄️⛄️

Thank you Tina. Biasini was just dozing in the cross ties so it was easy to take the photos.

Nice selection but the 2nd photo particularly appeals. That first photo is amazing to me though; not something I see ever in Sydney.

The snow creations can be very beautiful
Today is is cold and sunny so the snow is sparkling. If you are in Syndey have you been affected by the fires? Or are you in a different Sydney than the one in Australia?

Yes, I’m in Australia. There has been smoke from bushfires in metropolitan sydney for a while now. Yesterday, the sun was obscured and orange in appearance for most of the day due to smoke.

We were in Australia in 1990 with our two kids aged 2 and 4 and we travelled 26,000 kilometers around the country. It was a marvellous trip. I am sad to see it on fire and I hope the weather will give you a break.

Hopefully it will improve, but some of the fires have been burning for a few months now. The drought is quite severe.
