At the start of this week Belinda Trussell rode Biasini. She had him looking very good in the trot work.

Then she asked for some passage. I was interested to see that she would ask for passage and then go to posting trot and encourage Biasini to lower his head and neck. Here is a short video and you can see a couple of these transitions.
I asked Belinda about these transitions and she told me that when she would ask for the passage Biasini would lower his hind end in a sort of squat and get tight in his back and neck. When she felt this she would post the trot for a few strides to free up his back and lower his head and neck to relax him . Then, when she would feel him come up and over his back, she could ask for passage again.
So that is it . If I feel the horse’s back is not up under me don’t just keep banging on. Encourage the horse to relax and then try again .
I’d love to hear from you!
