I’m a Fan of Star Magnolia!

Outside our kitchen eating area there is a star Magnolia. Just a week ago it looked like this.

Then we had some sunshine and warmer temperatures. And now…

The whole tree is covered in beautiful starry blooms. Here is closer look.

This is why I am a fan of Star Magnolia. This is my selection for Photos by Jez Fan Of photo challenge.

I love it. They would grow in Ireland I think if you wanted to try one.

The star magnolia is the same here in NZ, as soon as spring returns in September they are just beautiful.

Anne, I just love your blog. It has a casual elegant I it! Star magnolia is stunning. I wonder if it’s related to our big magnolias we have here in Savannah.

Thank you Neal. I think since they are both called Magnolias they must be related. I will research this.

I have looked up magnolias. There is a Magnolia Grandiflorum which is an ever green tree with large cream colored fragrant blossoms. It is native to the Southeastern States. The entire magnolia species is known as. Magnoliaceae. So I would say the star magnolia is a relative of the ones you see in Savannah.

Yes it is short. Already the green leaves are pushing out the flowers and since we have had had hot , above average temps, the flowers are suffering and now almost finished.
