The weather here has been very cold . All the little birds come to our feeder to tuck in .When they go for a rest in the nearby trees they puff up to keep warm. I am sharing some photos for Terri’s Sunday Stills

Amazing the adaptations they have to help them survive.

Yes and when they puff up those feathers they can double their size.

It must be tough being a bird in such cold weather!

They seem to do ok. I think their ability to puff up their feathers is how they survive. This morning as I ook out I see 6 dark eyed junkos and 3 black squirrels all eating on fhe ground below the feeder. Lots of seeds fall on the ground so they are just hoovering them up. It is -14 Celsius this morning!!

Oh those poor little feet exposed to the ice and snow!
Beautifully done, Anne!

I have thought of that too. But they seem to manage just fine. They never pick their feet up as dogs sometimes do in the cold and ice. They just carry on and peck at the seeds in the feeder or on the ground. I am glad we are able to keep them fed at least.

I’m sure they were even more glad about that!

The feeder is a popular spot for the birds and squirrels! It makes me happy to see all of them.
