A Walk in the Forest.Lens Artists Challenge #117

This week Amy has given us the challenge of a Photo Walk. Monday was a beautiful day for going on a walk and who better to go with than Biasini. Now I cannot sling a camera around my neck when I am riding a horse so all of these photos were taken with my phone.

We started out walking out from the back of the barn and up the hill. Biasini thought that when I stopped to take a photo it was time for him to eat some of that delicious green grass!
We turned into the woods and up this hill then to the right and down a steep hill. I am a mere passenger but Biasini has work to do climbing up and down the hills.
After about 10 minutes we were off the Oakcrest Farm property and in the York Regional Forest. There are stands of old growth forest here with big cedar trees.
This wider trail I call the “Blue Trail” as it has directional markings on some of the trees in blue paint.
We left the blue trail and took another narrow trail heading north.
Here we are on the goat trail. We did it in the reverse direction today. Here is a circle of life: an old stump that was big tree cut down many, many, years ago and another tree has grown up for inside the stump.
The grass trail at the side of the fence on the left leads back to the barn. When Biasini realized we were finished our walk in the forest he slowed down . I think he was sad it was over. You can see at the bottom of the hill the triangular window of the arena. If you have seen any of my lesson videos with my coach Belinda Trussell you will recognize that window . I hope you enjoyed our walk in the forest! Thank you Amy for this challenge.

That’s so AWESOME!! Raining leaves! 😍

Poor Biasini, slowing down at the end of the walk! Obvioisly need to either a) do more walks or b) go further!

He is such a funny fellow Usually he walks slowly the entire time but yesterday, with the weather a bit cooler, he was striding out the whole time. He will get more walks. We had a short one today as we had high winds and intermittent rain so we did not go too far.

        Bless him!

Thanks for taking us along on your walk. It was lovely. 😊

Ooh, the trails are littered with the most amazing colorful leaves! I think I would get lost through the trees, it’s so beautiful there!! What a great post, I felt like I was walking along with you both! My horses do the same when I stop to take a photo, they think it’s time for a snack! 🤣 Silly ponies! 🐴❤️🥕

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Yes the leaves are a wide array of colors. Also they are falling as we walk it is almost “raining leaves”.

Will you take Biasini for another walk? Don’t want him to be sad 🙁

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Don’t worry he will get lots more forest walks. He does have to do training lessons as well but he will get out to the woods. Yesterday I told him we will be going out on the snow during the winter!

What a lovely walk you two had together – I can see why Biasini was in no hurry to return! I’m guessing the cooler air of fall was nice for you both as well. And yes, So good to get away from the news of the day!!

    1. anne leueen Avatar

It is cooler and there are no bugs which is nice too. It is a real relief to get out and remind myself that there is more than the pandemic and politics. 🤣

Thanks Amy. Taking photos while mounted on a horse who thinks such stops are boring and a waste of time is an interesring challenge. Im glad you enjoyed them. Thank you for this challenge.

What a beautiful walk, & you get to share it with Biasini. Love all the different coloured leaves on the ground & that last shot is just stunning 😃

I enjoy all the forest walks with Biasini. Interestingly enough he is always better in our lessons the day after a forest walk. I think it does him good in mind and body. The colors are wonderful this time of year and this year they are exceptional. Thanks for commenting.

Sometimes he needs a break too 😉 🐴

Yes indeed! Dressage can be pretty intense . It is good for the horses to get out of the arena and have a change of scene! Thanks for commenting Ribana.
