Backlighting. Blessing or Curse?

I was very interested in the Photo Challenge #21 from Jude at Travel Words. The theme is light and in particular backlighting. In this photo the light is all coming in from the huge windows at the end of the arena. This can be a blessing or a curse. For a silhouette like this it is a blessing.

In this photo I had my metering on “spot” so it focused on the dark horse. The bright light in the background went out to almost white.

Last night I took a snap with my phone of the light coming in, at sunset, through the blind and the window panes.

Thank you Jude for this challenge. It was fun be inspired to look for some horse photos with backlighting and the sunset last night was just an extra.

You did very well with this challenge, I’m not sure I’d know where to begin, but I do like silhouettes, and I think your shot of the window with shadows cast onto the shade is an interesting and very pleasing example.
