The Horse Guards and the Palace.

The sound of the horse’s hooves on the pavement. The police shouting to tourists to stand back.  The display of Union Jack flags for the Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s  Birthday. Cars and London taxis slowly coming up behind. Buckingham Palace in the background. This is the ambience of the stately procession of the Horse Guards coming up the Mall.

At this moment it is easy to believe there will always be an England.

When we stayed in London some years ago, some of the guards rode by our hotel one morning. Quite impressive.

When I wrote my blogs about the Cavalry Blacks I learned that they practice for the big events like a Royal Wedding in the middle of the night!
