One of my favorite quotes is this: “The world is best viewed through the ears of a horse” Winston Churchill This week I have been able to get back on my horse and see that view. I am so happy to be able to do that. I think the Parkinson’s medication has helped my right leg with the mounting up. I am able to get my leg up and into the saddle faster than before. Dismounting is still a bit of a task but I am working on it. In the meantime. Here another quote from Michael Jordan that inspires me.
“Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” Michael Jordan
Although I may have been only walking, as Biasini is still recovering for a tendon injury, I had a lesson with Lynsey Rowan, who walked beside me giving me instruction with every step!
I felt like everything she told me was something I could apply to walk trot or canter. the advantage to working on it at the walk is that I have the time to carry out whatever Lynsey was asking me to do .
The issues that come up in these walking lessons are nothing new. They address the same problems I have always had when riding Biasini. He pulls down and I must not pull back. Leg first, then wiggle my fingers to ask him not to pull. So this is all a great learning opportunity for me but the best thing of all is this: When I am on Biasini I am a rider not a person with Parkinson!!
