As you can see in this photo the leaves are no longer on the tree. We have had some very strong wind storms and the leaves are now on the ground, It was nice while it lasted and the colors were wonderful but it is all over now. I heard a program on the radio that discussed why it was that some if the colors were not as good as in previous years. There were two reasons given for this. We had two periods of drought during the summer that were hard on the trees and also the smoke from wildfires in Northern Ontario and Quebec left particles on the leaves that caused them problems. But nonetheless I thought the leaves may not have been as brilliantly colored as last year but still very striking! As I write this blog post there are almost no leaves left on this beautiful old maple that sits on the south edge of our property next to the corn field of the neighbouring farmer.I appreciate Dawns Annual Festival of Leaves and do click on the link to her post as in other places the leaves will still be glorious
