How often in life do we think that things are OK and we can relax about something that has been bothering us. I don’t know about you but I have it happen a lot that as soon as I think some issue is ok KABOOM. Something completely unexpected hits! This is what happened to me last Saturdday.
I have had a number of falls ever since my hip fracture in June of 2022. Since the xrays of the fracture revealed the need for my 21 year old total hip replacement to get new hip socket liner I believed that the instability of this hip as contributing to the falls. But once I had the surgery and a new socket liner in place the falls continued. I saw my GP a week ago and he took me through some visual and neurogical tests. He said that he could not find any particular reason for my falls and the only thing he could say after the tests was he knew I did not have Parkinsons!
Saturday night I got up at 2am to go to the bathroom. I walked toward the bathroom door When I was about five feet from the door my feet felt like they were glued to the floor. my knees moved but not my feet. However the top part of my body went on as if the bottom part was still with it. Down I went Splat. My face and head hit the trim on the side of the door . Immedidately I felt blood running down my face. I called for my husband who sleeps upstairs and in seconds he was beside me and turned on the light. already there was pool of blood on the floor. He got a wadge of kleenex and then a small towel . We decided I had to go to the ER at the hospital. He helped me get dressed and off we went, We are only 15 minutes from the hospital. Once there I was seen by the triage nurse who took my story of what had happened. The nurse who was taking my blood pressure said she thought I might have broken my nose.
To make a long story short. I got an ECG and a CT Scan.ECG revealed my heart was beating normally and the CT scan showed I didn’t have any internal bleeding in my brain or fracture of my skull. The doctor reported this to me, stitched up my forehead,6 stitches, and the bridge of my nose, 4 stitches, put a dressing on both and I was discharged.
Today, Monday July 31, I will be having a phone consult with my GP. I am hoping he will be able to refer me to a specialist who deals with brain /body miscues. In the meantime I am not riding as I would scare everyone at the barn with my two black eyes and black lower lip and the rather large bandages on my face.My GP may tell me I could have a concussion. If I do I may not be working on a computer screen for a while. In which case I will be absent from the blogosphere. Bear with me.
What upsets me the most? I had just got back to riding Biasini and now I cannot do that at least until recover a bit from this fall. . But I hope to be back soon.

In this photo( taken last week,) I am wearing a Cee Coach microphone system to hear what Lynsey Rowan is saying to me in my walking lesson.
