FOTD: Flowers or Seeds?

Since I am spending the winter in South Florida there are lots of trees, flowers and plants I am not familiar with. First of all here is a photo of a tree near where we are staying.

I was intrigued by the blooms. Were they flowers? My husband thinks they are seed pods.

Blossoms or seed pods of a tree in South Florida.

We tried to get Google to help us identify this tree but it came up with suggestions of trees that live in India! I suppose it is possible that they live in India and also South Florida. If you know what this tree is then please let me know in the comments .

This is my response to Cee’s Flower of the Day photo challenge.

I guess this is spring in Florida. Do the flowers lead to a fruit later on?

Looks very much like the mango trees flowering.

      You’re the second person to
Identify the tree as mango. So I’m going with.that. Too bad I won’t be here for thr fruit!

Ooo, that’s such an unusual tree. Unfortunately, I don’t know its name. However, my sister-in-law uses something called ‘Picture This’, which is a plant identifier app. It’s not a hundred percent accurate, but it’s useful as a starting point to further research flowers and such. Maybe that could help?

My husband did try to identify it using the Google app that looks at a photo of the plant and tells you what it is. It came up with a suggestion but the tree is in India.

It’s hard to tell but I’d guess a mango tree. They are in full bloom this time of year and make hundreds if not thousands of blooms. I had a HUGE mango tree in my backyard in Ft Lauderale and we would have so many mangoes we would donate them. Enjoy the warmth!
