Nature at work: Squirrels!

This is a great time of year for squirrels. The corn is abundant and easy for them to get . This is Nature at Work!
They take the kernels and bury them in various places.
This little fellow, a young one I think, got hold of the corn cob in his mouth and ran with it to the other side of the lawn. He did not want to share it with any of the other squirrels!

This is my response to Nancy Merrill’s Nature at Work photo challenge.

The gray squirrels here raid bird feeders . The black ones are few and far between. Once in a while I see one in the woods.

The squirrels are not able to reach our feeders as we have metal wrapped around the post supporting the feeders. So they just pick up what gets dropped onto the ground.
