For the squirrels in our neighbourhood life is good at the moment. Next to us there is a corn field . In the autumn the corn is nice and ripe and the squirrels climb up the stalks and break off a cob. Then they bring it over onto our lawn and get the husks off. Then the real fun begins. They eat the corn kernels and when they are almost full they think of the winter and bury a few kernels for those winter days. I’m a fan of watching the squirrels.

Other squirrels stop by the ground water bath and have a drink.

An Eastern blue bird is at the tall bird bath taking a break from his bath. I am also a fan of watching all the little birds coming to the feeders and the bird baths

Then, in he goes again splashing, flapping his wings in the water, and having a grand time with his bath. Water, water, everywhere!

For all these creatures life is good at this time of year. It is not so hot and humid, and there is plenty to eat.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone!
What a wonderful post, Anne 👏 So glad to see your squirrels are thriving & they’ve hopefully got enough “squirelled away” 😂 for the lean months! Thanks for playing along with both my challenges 😃

The blue birds turn up most days for a bath. Today we have cooler and overcast weather so they may not come. But when they do they love it.

Oh my crickey that’s just all too sweet mischievous. It’s amazing how much a squirrel can eat they seem so little.
I love how the water is dripping down around the sides of the bird bath like this little fella fare dinkum knows how to enjoy a bath. Beautiful moments captured.

The bluebirds have a grand time splashing and dunking themselves in the bird bath. Sometimes there will be up to four of them.

As such, they are a good example for us.

Indeed. Especially at the moment when there seems to be so much unhappiness in the daily news. On top of that we have a general election here today. I do not think the result will bring much change and that would be fine with me but you never know!

Anne, this post is an absolute joy for me this morning! I’m glad you find joy in watching the squirrels – a refreshing change from people who see them simply as vermin. Squirrels are great fun to watch. And that darling little bluebird! I wish I could cuddle him, ha-ha. 😀
It really is a nice time of the year!

Thanks Lesley. I cannot see them as vermin. They all have different personalities and we see the same ones coming day after day so we get to know them. The bluebirds turn up every afternoon around 4 to have their baths. It is very entertaining. The squirrels are here all year but we do not see the blue birds much in the winter so they must migrate south.

What a wonderful example they are for us by putting away some of their feast for harder times that will come later rather than being a glutton now!

Always nice to see wildlife outside the door, Anne. After years of dealing with a million squirrels in my former neighborhood, it is strange to see none, at least for now. Cute bluebirds!

Thanks Terri. The squirrels are very amusing I think and fortunately they have not decided to live in our attic spaces! That would not be good.

I Love all the wildlife right outside your front door!! So wonderful to watch them and so happy you share them too! Will you be able to go to Florida this winter? I hope things have opened up for you all!

We have opened up here and visitors can come from the US if fully vaccinated and testing negative and can enter with no quarantine.
But the US will only allow essential workers in by land. We could fly but that means shipping our car down and putting our little dog into an airline approved carry on and getting her under the seat . So if that is what we have to do then we will do.it. Opening the border with Canada is low on the priorities for the USA. Too bad but there it is.
