I know this is not a flower so why am I putting in to Cee’s Flower of the Day challenge? Well, I hope Cee will accept this entry . This is a variegated grass that grows in our garden. It stands tall at the edge of the deck and it still stands tall, in its dried form, even in the worst of the winter weather. Snow and howling gales of wind cannot defeat this tall grass. I have to admire its resilience. Every year it is still here dried and somewhat bare at the end of the winter. Only then do I cut it down and the new green and white shoots come up. All winter long it provides shape and a beacon of survival in the Canadian winter. So that is my Flower of the Day.

Here is a photo of it in the summer. Yes, that’s it behind the pink flowers of the Japanese Anemone.

And here it is now. All the others have gone but it is still standing, undaunted!

I’d love to hear from you!
