Hello Dear Humans. This week Ma Leueen and a whole bunch of other Humans at the barn got in a knot about one of my legs. I had cut it a bit. Just a tiny prick. And no, I have no idea how I did it. And even if I did I wouldn’t admit it. So Ma Leueen sees this tiny cut and she gets all upset about it because there is some “swelling”. So she gets Barn Manager Carl to look at it. Well he’s a sensible guy and he says it is nothing to worry about. Ma Leueen cleans it up and that is that. Until the next day when Ma Leueen gets Super Groom Lexi and Therapy Person Lori to look at it. Well, they both think there is a cause for some concern. Seriously? I mean it is not like I had cut a big piece out of my leg. It’s not like I was hobbling around not able to walk, trot and canter. It’s just a bit of swelling!
Ma Leueen decided a walk would be good for me and we went on a forest trail ride. It was delightful. But Ma Leueen was still fussing about my leg. She sprayed some stuff on it that had helped with swelling the last time I got a scratched leg. The next day she was still fussing and Assistant Trainer Lynsey said she would be concerned if it was one of her horses. I gave her a look but she ignored me. That night SG Lexi wrapped my leg in a bandage. I had to have bandages on both of my front legs. And the next night they put some yellow goop on my leg and then put the bandage on. That seemed to make them happier because when they took it off my leg had almost no swelling. I did a bit of work with Ma Leueen in the outdoor arena and then went for a short trail ride. I love walking through the leaves.
Then a vet came. She was a nice lady and she felt my leg and said she thought it was doing well and healing up nicely. SEE! I coulda told them that! She also said it was fine for me to go back to work . Yay! I was happy to hear that. I like working. It makes me feel important. But then Ma Leueen and I had a lesson with Coach Belinda and she made us work a lot! I think Ma Leueen might have been more tired than me at the end!
Anyway my leg is fine. It never hurt and I never limped or anything like that. So what was all the fuss about?
Just for fun I asked Ma Leueen to take a video of us walking around the paddocks at the end of our lesson. I knew you would like to hear me rustling the leaves with my hooves.
