This year the leaves are giving us an incredible show of dazzling colors. Many of us here have noticed the vibrancy of the colors. We think it is because we had heat and drought in the summer and then in September a quick change to some very cold nights. I am very happy to be able to add these photos to Dawn’s Festival of Leaves. This is the view from our back garden looking out over the farmer’s fields. These photos were taken at 7:30 am .

Yesterday after our lesson I took Biasini for a relaxing walk around the paddocks. Here we walked through the fallen leaves. Soon all the brilliant colors will be gone. But what a show it has been.

The colors in these photo are not tweaked in Lightroom. I only added clarity not saturation or vibrancy. It is amazing and that is how it is this year.
Nice colors. We have Canada geese that winter over; they find those fields that with not much snow cover and ponds, lakes, and reservoirs that don’t completely ice over. They know where to fly.

They are smart. We had hunters in that field yesterday with lots of decoy geese out to lure the live ones. A couple got shot and that was that. The geese have not been back. I suspect they will not come to this field again. The hunters are permitted, in the season, to shoot in one hour before sunrise and one hour after sunrise.

Gorgeous, Anne! I do love this time of the year, but we don’t quite have the glorious colours as in your part of the world. The geese have arrived in our local reserve, a distinct sign that we are heading towards winter. x

This year the colors have been exceptional. We usually have very good autumn color but this year it is above and beyond!

Indeed. And we are getting some warmer temps this week. Temps that are much liked by horses and dogs!

I agree with everyone about the last picture, Anne. The colors, the view through the horse’s ears. Like Terri said, we get many of your geese here in CA. We have a pond at the church on our street, and they love to hang out there. It won’t be long now. The weather cooled way down into the 80s today. Have a great weekend.

Such brilliant colors, Anne! Fall is my favorite time of year. Those Canadian snow geese will fly down our way and winter in the Northern California bird sanctuaries. Ive visited those sanctuaries and the sight of them flying in their various formations is something to behold. I will miss this when we move to Washington.

I have seen Canada geese in London England so I think you may see them in Washington. They get around!🙂

Wow how many colors they show. Nature doesn’t show any change in 2020 at least. So happy to see this as this is not usual in the part of world I born or live.

These colors are encouraging. Has it been a dry summer? We have a borderline drought and we are on the edge of turning.

We had a spell of heat and drought in the summer. Then in September some nights almost down to freezing. We have had rain in the last week but the colors have stayed amazingly bright. But one good rain storm and wind and they will be gone. When yours turn I hope you will share some photos.
