The pink Hibiscus is blooming and it is my Flower of the Day! Such a spectacular flower measuring almost 6 inches in diameter. I shot these photos with my Canon 18-55 mm lens . I do not have a macro lens as I am usually taking photos of moving horses. But the Canon lens has macro capability 0.25 m / 0.8 ft

As a side note the Japanese Beetles have attacked our garden this year. I think they like hot dry weather. They are ghastly beetles with no redeeming features, who arrived in New York over a hundred years ago, as stowaways with at shipment of Japanese Iris. In Japan they have natural predators that keep them in check but in North America they decimate gardens and agriculture. In our garden they feed on hydrangeas, linden, hibiscus and the flowers of geraniums. They are difficult to get rid of but we are doing our best. At least I have the photos of the Hibiscus before the Japanese invaders chomp on them .

I’d love to hear from you!
