Water Water Everywhere!

The bluebirds are feeling the heat. Here are two splashing about in the birdbath. The Patriarch Blue Bird watches and he keeps an eye out for squirrels and others who may interrupt the bathing. One bluebird has already had her bath and waits for her two friends. Two small sparrows are waiting their turn. When the blue birds left they had a chance for a bath and a quick drink of water.

This is my first time to try something for the WWE challenge by Jez of Photos by Jez.

    That’s a great bath they’re having.

O/T: I have a dressage question for you. On this morning’s replay of an FEI World Cup Dressage competition, they mentioned a 14 yr old girl competing for the second year at that level. While she has to be good, I do have concerns about placing such a young rider under that kind of competition pressure. Trish, my daughters’ coach, was reluctant to let my girls ride a Premier AA level Grand Prix event when they were 14. Tara did her first when she was 15, Deborah and Elizabeth were 15 when they did their first also. I was wondering what you thought about young competitors. On the competition replay, it was Isabel Werth and Charlotte Dujardin 1-2.

That is a new one to me. I can’t imagine being 14 and competing at that level. And competing with those two riders. Isabel.is the most decorated equestrian in the world in any discipline. There are FEI level classes for younger riders; the FEI Junior class which is a 3rd level equivalent and the FEI Young Riders which is Prix St. George. There is also a Under 25 Grand Prix. Not sure why this young person was thrown into this level. Was she German?

I think she was German. But, I was thinking why would anyone so young be competing against Isabel and Charlotte at such an early age, especially Isabel. At 14, you’re wanting Isabel’s and Charlotte’s autograph more. It really had me puzzled.

In showjumping, USEF classifies a junior rider as 17 and under, a senior rider is 18 and over. Under FEI rules, a junior is 14-18, young rider 16-21, U25 is 16-25. Trish uses FEI age groups in her program. I even texted Elizabeth about this during a break in her class. She said she would be hanging back, near the start area to get Isabel’s or Charlotte’s autograph after the award ceremony. Competing against them, not a chance in her book.

I agree with Elizabeth! And for a young dressage rider watch Isabel and Charlotte ride their tests and if possible watch the warm up. So much to be learned from that and also to be inspired by!

It has been very hot and dry here so the birds are grateful for the little bath

We are having a drought here and a lot of heat so I think more birds are visiting than usual.
