That Brain Fog

Just to be clear I am not speaking of any sort of dementia or any medical condition that would impair mental function. I am just speaking about that brain fog that clouds my head when I get overloaded. Too many things to do, too many things to remember, too many things to schedule and not enough time. Priorities start to get foggy, things get forgotten, things are remembered that disturb my sleep at 4 am! My son who lives in London England sent me this photo he had taken on a foggy night in London. That is just like my brain I thought. Foggy with lights refracting and disturbing the image.

Whoa! Time to do something about this fog. That is the point I reached this past weekend. What did I do to clear the fog? I went back to my priorities and got rid of one major thing that was cluttering up my time.

I closed down, deleted, and unpublished my Horse Addict Leueen Facebook page. I had originally set up this page to give my blog posts a wider spread.I chose to separate it from my own personal Facebook page because I found it was necessary to be able to ban people who came on with negative comments. Facebook does seem to have some trolls who specialize in doing that. But in order to maintain an audience for this page I had to share something horse related at least three times a day. But it was not fulfilling the original purpose of the page which was to bring readers to my blog posts. So I closed the page.

I was surprised what a relief it was. I no longer had to start looking at horse sites on Facebook to find things to share before I had eaten my breakfast. I could focus on my blog and on reading other bloggers work on WordPress.

My horse Biasini does not have to deal with Brain Fog. He lives in the present. Here he is snoozing in the cross ties under the heating lamp. He is not worried about what we will be doing in our ride or whether he will get dinner. He is just enjoying this moment in the warmth.

I know I could benefit from this approach to life but it is not always practical for a human being. However eliminating stress producers is a good start. The fog has lifted!

Agree with you completely. Have thought of deleted my fb page as well. Not worth the time. 😊

I still have a personal FB page and it helps me to keep up with relatives who live in different places in the world. But that is a very different thing from trying to keep going with a blog linked page.

It indeed is a challenge to keep up with the presence on different platforms – I am so happy for your decision and the newfound space! I have too not focused on any ‘should’ and simply follow the joy of inspiration to post.

Biasini has the right idea. Social Media is a hungry monster and I have deep, deep reservations about Mr Zuckerberg and FB.

And then there is the whole FB and Cambridge Analytica scandal!!

        Don’t get me started……!

True ma’am, Biasini lives good and true life than us. WordPress is the only active social media place for me, it is nearly two years since I opened my Facebook and I feel days are passing very good.

Good for you. Facebook can be an odd place. I keep my personal page because it is the way I maintain contact with relatives who live in different parts of the world.

Ack! I know the feeling. If I don’t put something in my phone calendar there’s a good chance it will not get addressed. And it’s even worse when I forget to look at my calendar. I think you made a good choice with the Facebook page. The way I see it, if you want to sell something you can “work it” (literally work work work) on Facebook. But if you’re interested in discussion and learning and sharing, a blog or even Instagram is a much friendlier and less frenetic platform.

Good decision, I’d say. Yes, we humans have a way of overloading our lives till the stress sends us over the edge.

Yes. At least at my advanced age I have accepted that I cannot do it all

I feel ya on the brain fog! Good jobber to reduce. Better to enjoy what you’re doing than feeling like it’s a chore, I say.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I agree there are enough chores in life without adding more!

So many things to do and so little time…I struggle with this too…but in the end I think we only have this time so better try to take Biasini’s and other animals example and live the moment! Definitely not always easy but when we are in trouble we should remember it 😊

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Yes Ribama I agree and since I have a close relationship with a horse who lives in the present I should follow his example every day. 🙂

Yes, brain becomes foggy at times…whole day’s working hours seem to be less…even I struggle, but probably with age we become mature and fog starts dimming.

I think we do become wiser as we age. Thank you for your comment I appreciate it.
