Well I am home again! We had a great visit with our son which was the basic reason for going to London. We had dinner with him every evening and that let us us get caught up with him. He has recently made what I consider to be major change in his work. He used to do digital marketing for election campaigns. He is now involved with the roll out of a new online program for payday loans last year he worked on elections Paraguay for two months and for 6 months in Pakistan. I was nervous about his time in Pakistan I think that the entire time he was in Pakistan I felt somehwhat concerned about his safety there. . Anyway, he reached a time in his life when he felt that he had been travelling enough and had enough with the elections and then someone approached him about doing something completely different he will now be working in an office on a Monday to Friday basis and will be in London full time So far it’s going well .For me Unfortunately I had a bad fall, as some of you may know in England is not like the sidewalks here that are completely flat They have what they call paving stones and sometimes they’re a bit uneven so I tripped I caught my toe and I smacked my right knee down onto the pavement hard . The next day I went to the Lister Hospital they took X rays and found I had a small fracture that’s how they described it as a small fracture of my Knee cap. I have to tell you that it was exceedingly painful I was told that I could have surgery done on it but that what I should do was to just wait until I got back to Canada and then get it X rayed and see how it was coming along it might knit up and heal on its own I thought that sounded preferable to surgery and so that’s what I have done. Today I went and had some x-rays done and my GP phoned later and said that although he thought that I should possibly have gone for the surgery But, that the on looking at the report from the X Rays that he felt that the thing that my small fracture was healing up and I could I could probably just leave it. So there you have it.
Fortunately we had already decided ,with my Parkinson’s, that we were going to rent a wheelchair so we had that already set up by the time we got to England and it arrived the day before we arrived so a lot of the time my husband was pushing me about in this wheelchair and I was so grateful for that I can tell you.
Anyway it was not an ideal situation but you know it’s it’s just my kneecap it’s not my whole leg it’s not that I had broken my hand or broken my arm none of those things. Also I learned something interesting about the Lister Hospital there was a plaque in one of the waiting rooms that said that Dr Lister was the person who had started to really use and make sure that all surgeries were done with an antiseptic basis and he apparently was the first surgeon anyway to really sort of get into people I mean like he would really open people up and go in there and I thought to myself aha Listerine was it named after Dr. Lister??Listerine. LISTERINE the mouthwash ,it’s antiseptic and I thought perhaps this is why they named it named it after Dr Lister I don’t know if any of you know but if you do please leave me something the comments below.Herte is a photo of the front of the Lister hospital.
