I am giving thanks to the horse Gods today. The vet came to do an ultrasound of Biasini’s injured leg. She said the injury is looking “very good” and she had trouble even finding the injury on the ultrasound! When she did an ultrasound a month ago she said the injury had filled in but was not looking strong enough for him to start back to trot work. But today she said it was looking well enough for him to start back.
So tomorrow he can go once around the covered arena then back to walk. As I have only ridden at the walk for several months Lynsey will ride him for his trot work. The next day twice around the arena and five minutes of walk in between. The vet will check him again next Friday and if he is good then we can start to turn him out in the morning turnout to one of the paddocks. He will have some sedation to help to keep him quiet. If he was to start running or cavorting about could re-injure himself and, as that would be a third injury ,it would mean I would have to retire him. I will do a great deal to avoid that. So when he goes out my husband and I will sit outside his paddock and keep an eye on him and if he acts up we can go in and settle him down.
