Today I managed to recover my site and l can Write and see my Reader again. Yesterday a blog post went up on my site that was NOT written by me. What does that mean? To me it meant that my site had been hacked. Also when I looked at the post it has a link to click and when clicked it asked for payment information. So it was a phishing post! I thought I better report thisl
I also noticed that I did not see “Write: in the top right of my screen and no “Reader” on the top left!! I had this happen in October when I got a new computer. So I knew I had to sign out. But when I did I could not sign in again. It would not accept my password. I always write my passwords down in a book so I knew I was using the right word. Then I tried to do some online banking and found my password for the online banking program was also not working!! I panicked . I contacted their support line and with getting then to give me passwords (just numbers) I was able to get in. But back to Word Press. I had sent a message, yesterday afternoon, telling WP I thought my site had been hacked. This morning I still had no reply. So I Google searched ‘Word Press help.’ I found a site and went to it .I spent about 45 minutes on a live chat explaining what was wrong.Then the person tells me they don’t do techincal support. I have to sign up for a membership and the first 3 days will be free after that it’s $97 US$ per month!! I didn’t want to do that.
Long story short . I came back this afternoon and signed in having changed my password and Halleluja I got my Reader and Write back again. I sincerely hope none of you have to go through anything like this. I also hope I will never see a post that I did not put up on my site again.
Technology is great when it works and a source of stress and anxiety when it does not! Would you agree??
