This week Ann Christine of Leya has given the challenge of photos that are backlit. Her responses to the challenge are beautiful I will give a link to her post at the end of this post. All of my photos come from a 2019 tour of houses and buildings designed by English architect Sir John Soane (1753-1837). Soane designed all the buildings with windows and skylights that allowed in natural light to illuminate the room.

In the photo above I wanted to get both the park outside and the lovely wall paper in the room .

.

Soane would often use a “Skylight” to illuminate the space below. This was effective even on a grey English day!

This is the entrance hallway to Soane’s house in Ealing.

The Ealing house overlooks a park on one side.

This window was in a church close to one of the Soane houses.
Thank you Ann-Christine for this interesting challenge. Click here to see her beautiful backlit photos.
I’d love to hear from you!
