So it seems I had to choose a new theme as my original theme had been “retired”. I find change of this sort difficult but I went ahead and chose a new theme. Somehow in the process I lost my quote that used to be at the top of the page. “The world is best viewed through the ears of a horse.” Also the editor is a bit different and I also found that tricky. I used to like the way my old theme would display the featured photos of the older posts. But this one does not. I suppose there may be another theme that has that but I did not find one .Anyway… onwards ever onwards!

Forced changes are the worst, you weathered them well and the new format “works.”

Thank you Michael!

The thought of this is a nightmare to me! BUT, change happens all the time and we must embrace it! You will get the hang of it just like we will.
-
It has been a nightmare but the WP help got me straightened around in the end. However I had to delete one post which was both sad and frustrating.

Sorry about that. Sometimes I feel like WordPress changes things for the sake of changing things. I hope you’re able to find a new theme you gravitate towards 🙂

It happens.

I’m sorry you’re having this problem, Anne. I hope you get it resolved soon. Tinkering about with these things can get frustrating. 🙁
-
In the end i had to delete the post as thr solutions WP suggested resulted in my loosing the content of the post.

You seem to have a good mindset for the change – and I know that sometimes themes do need to be retired because they don’t fit updates and new settings – and it sure can be tough

I love your header photo. Hope you learn the ins and outs of this theme 😀
-
Sorry, Anne. There is a bit of a learning curve with the block themes. I am sure you will get the hang of it soon. I found WP to be a huge help. 😊
-
I have been using the block editor before but this bisque seems to just involve quotes and it has affected all the posts with quotes going back to 2016😕
-
Oh, no! That is so frustrating. 😏
-
Yes it is driving me crazy!

Best wishes to you, Anne. I have considered changing my theme, but I am not prepared to do that. I probably won’t be until my theme is retired. Funny but not funny!
-
Yup I appreciate what you are saying

I have been using Toujours for ages as it is set up for photos
-
I hope then they wont retire it.

Dad used the Toujours theme in the past I believe. A lot of the new themes use the block editor. I looked at the block editor, and it seems ghastly to use. There’s nothing intuitive about the block editor. You can use the classic editor from the admin pages, which we do. Hope things work out regarding the new theme.

I’m sorry you lost your quote, Anne, and that WordPress had you change your site layout (this new one is still pretty nice, and easy to navigate, though.) 🙂
-
I didn’t know they did this. Ugh 😑
-
I have found another theme but it is putting a recent post into an unreadable squish on one side of the page.
-
So not cool. I’ve had my theme for 4 years. I can only imagine trying to go through changing it now. I hope you can find one you like better?

Ugh..I do not want to have to do that! lol
-
Me either but my old theme started having ghastly problems and when I contacted WP help they told me it was retired and I would have to get a new theme.
-
🙁

I know Dawn, I hope they don’t retire my theme !
