Back to Work!

This past week Coach Belinda Trussell and also Assistant Trainer Lynsey Rowan had me back to work on Biasini. For the first time in almost three months I was sitting the trot and cantering. And taking instruction about half halting and giving with the contact! I did not suffer any discomfort in my injured hip which was a relief and I felt great to be back really riding!

I can tell that Biasini has been beautifully tuned up by the Belinda and Lynsey. The way he responded to my aids was marvelous. I must maintain this standard! The only thing missing is my endurance and stamina. I need more of both so I can keep it up for longer . After about 15 minutes I was getting tired and decided to stop so I would not start making mistakes.

What did we do the next day? Out to the forest trails to give both of us a change of scene. It’s easy for me but Biasini is doing a different sort of work going up and down the hills. I don’t have any video of hills but here are two short videos of the trails.

Biasini and I are so lucky to have the forest so nearby. I think it is good for both of us mentally and physically to get out on those trails.

Since you do your elder gym exercises too, once you get to do that more often and much longer, that’ll increase your stamina and endurance on and off Biasini. In turn, that will allow you to take a longer lesson. And, this in turn will put away those injury thoughts.

    Keep it going.

I find the mental health aspect of getting out and about just as important as the physical health aspect – I think it was after being cooped up with my broken leg and numerous lockdowns.

Yes indeed. For the horses it’s important to get out of the arena and equally important for the riders!

Congratulations on your progress! You’re an inspiration to us mere mortals. And Biasini must be glad to have his partner working with him! Happy riding!
