Today Biasini and I did not have a training lesson. It was cold with temperatures just below freezing. But the sun was out and the sky was a clear blue. I decided we would go out for a walkabout. I had on my thermals and I have a special quarter sheet to keep Biasini’s hind end warmer. It is a water resistant fabric with a fleece lining. So I got the pair of us dressed up and off we went. We walked past the paddocks at the back of the Oakcrest barn and on up the hill. Yesterday we had a big snowfall and once past the paddocks the snow was untouched. We were the first to walk there. We walked up a small hill and out onto the big open area that in the summer is a large grass field where we can ride. We walked out onto the snowy space.

It was absolutely beautiful. Look at the snow decorating the trees. We walked around the loop behind those trees. We repeated this circle a couple of times. For Biasini walking in the snow was extra exercise as since it was at least 9 inches deep he had to step up to go forward .
What a marvelous horse he is. Yesterday in the indoor arena we had an excellent lesson and he was a super dressage horse. Today he was out in the snow, as calm as can be. I think he enjoyed it!

He must have enjoyed it. Looks so serene.

It really was so beautiful and Biasini was so well behaved . You never know in the winter if it will be possible to get out for a hack. Sometimes it is too icy even though he has snow pads and corks on his front feet and is unshod behind. But I am hopeful for more outings!

Ah! Walking in snow that is almost a foot deep is very hard work. I wouldn’t be able to keep up with Biasini . And I would soon be puffed out.I 😄

So magical! B is such a good boy ❤ and perfect for you. I love his winter coat. He has lovely color.

He is a furball. He has a trace clip which you can’t see in the photo. The clipped part is sort of peach dun color! He has a full clip back in October and that grew in so for work he was sweating a lot. The trace clip gives him fur on his legs and back for warmth. Thanks for commenting Avery

Nice to know, you always gives so much of credit to Biasini who is always wonderful. That’s a beautiful scene with snow and sun.

Thank you Subbashini. There are lots of horses who would not be as calm as Biasini in the snow and cold weather so he deserves some credit and I think he trusts me . That helps too.

It is a beautiful sight, and it’s always kind of neat when The snow is unbroken, and your foot prints, or rather, hoof prints, are the first ones there.

Yes it is a lovely sight to see. We saw some other tracks in the forest loop. Possibly deer.

It looks super! If he’s anything like our dog Biddy,he enjoyed the mental stimulation of a “new” environment and the 9 inches of snow to walk through!

Well our little dog June is very active in the snow. Biasini was happy with it but perhaps a bit bemused as I don’t think he has been in that much snow before.

Some parts of the British Isles had sbow the other day, which is very early. Usually it’s a late December?January thing. We never get any as we are by the coast.

Absolutely beautiful, Anne 👏 Fantastic that you & Biasini were able to get out in untouched snow. We had a light fall last night (1-2 inches), so I’m hopefully going to get out early & get some snowy shots 😃

WOW! So very beautiful! What a good boy and what FUN to ride around in fresh snow. Your photos with all the snow on the trees looks like Christmas! 🌲☃️❤️ Sounds like the thermals for you and the quarter sheet for him works great. I Love how you are making the best of it since you are not able to be in Florida preparing to ride and show there this year. Thank you for sharing!! ❤️🐴

It is a real treat to get out in the snow and for the moment it is not too unbearably cold. That may come in January and February . We shall see!😄

Talk about perfect snow. We were on the back side of the storm, mostly wind, cold and very gray. The weather guessers talked snow, but it didn’t come.

Well this snowy ride certainly lifted my spirits. There is so much bad news both in the world and in the lives of people I know that a nice ride out is therapeutic.

Our auxiliary barn has been converted into an indoor practice space. It’s come in handy when the weather is less than hospitable, especially the last few days of plain cold. The girls have gotten in the practice they wanted. Trish, their coach, was supposed to come down this week, but she had the sniffles this week, to oversee practice but will come down next week. Weather will be better too.
