Hello again Dear Humans! I think if you have been reading Ma Leueen’s blob posts you will know she has been away. She went off to some huge big horse show. Coach Belinda’s horse, Tattoo, went as well and Coach Belinda rode him in the show. When he got home he told me he had done really well but the weather had been really hot and sticky. He didn’t like that too much. And the other thing he complained about was that there was no grass anywhere to eat when Assistant Lynsey would take him for walks.. He said that was a big disappointment. I agreed with him ’cause when we horses are away at shows it is nice to get out for a bit of a walk and relax and have a munch on some grass.
Ma Leueen was not riding in this big show. She was doing the media thing and taking pictures and talking on her blob about it all. To be honest I wasn’t all that interested as, other than Tattoo, I didn’t know any of the horses.
I had a nice holiday while she was gone and Barn Manager Carl took me on some trail rides in the forest. And….you know what he said after our first ride? He gave me a pat and said I walked like a Western Trail Horse. Yup! That’s what he said. That is a huge compliment of course! Why? Because when you go out on a trail you want a nice relaxed horse walking steadily along, covering ground and just getting on with it. You don’t want some flibbity gibbity horse spooking and prancing. Nope! You want a Western Trail Horse.
Here is a photo taken on the day when Barn Manager Carl took me out with two other horses. Well look at how they have their heads…..all up in the air like dressage horses. But not me! That’s me there on the right. Look at my head ….nice and low and relaxed. That’s how Western Trail horses go.
And look at all the boots and wraps on those horses legs. I only have small boots on my front feet. That’s because I know where my legs and feet are no matter how rough the ground is. I can step over tangles of roots on the ground, no problem. I can do it without banging my legs. All Western Trail horses know that stuff.
When Ma Leueen came back I had to go into the arena and be a dressage horse again and to be honest I wasn’t all that keen to do that. I had enjoyed my holiday. But Ma Leueen told me that when we are retired we can go on trail rides all the time but now we have to train and work and I must be a dressage horse.
She’s right. I am a dressage horse after all and I’m pretty good at it. And besides, Ma Leueen takes me on trail rides sometimes too. So……life is good.
Till next time Dear Readers….Happy Trails to you.
I’d love to hear from you!
