It’s Christmas! And I’ve been Tagged!

I do not usually respond to awards as I feel I do not have enough time to give them the credit they deserve. But I was “tagged” by Ben from You Can do It  for the Christmas Tag and in the spirit of the season I thought OK. Let’s go with it.

Thank you Ben for nominating or tagging me. • My answers to the  questions :

    1. What´s your favorite thing about Christmas? The spirit of the season; love, joy, forgiveness and compassion.
    2. What´s your favorite Christmas memory? When my children were younger the excitement of Christmas morning.
    3. Are there special traditions your family has for Christmas? On Christmas Eve we would all watch the film “It’s A Wonderful Life.” As the years went by it would only be my son and me as my husband and daughter would be wrapping presents. But my son and I loved this film and the wonderful story of a man who, in despair, thinks it would have been better if he had never lived. The people in his home town who know he is in a financial crisis all pray for him and a rather hapless angel ,who has not managed to earn his wings, is sent down to help the desperate man and shows him how much he has done for  people during his life and how different it would be if he had not lived. The whole town rallies round to help him with his crisis and the angel gets his wings. It is a story well suited to Christmas I think.
    4. What´s your Christmas wish? (can be personal or general). My Christmas wish is for my family, friends and blogger friends to have good health in the coming year both mental and physical.  And I wish for peace for all those suffering in war and conflict zones in the world. .
    5. What´s your favorite Christmas dish?  Mince pies.
    6. What´s your favorite Christmas decoration? The Christmas tree.
    7. What is your favorite Christmas song? Angels we have heard on high.
    8. Where do you usually celebrate Christmas?  With family.
    9. What does the “Christmas spirit” mean to you?   The spirit of hope, love and compassion.
    10. Who out of anybody in the world would you want to spend your Christmas with?  I would like to have my family all together. My daughter and her family are only two hours away and my husband and I will spend Christmas with them. But my son is now in Australia so if we could ‘teleport’ him here to be with us  that would be wonderful.

Additional question for (Ben’s) interest:  Do you believe in Christmas?  That is a tricky question. Do I believe that the son of God was born in a stable in Bethlehem? Do I believe an elderly gentleman who lives at the North Pole and flies on a reindeer driven sleigh delivering presents all over the  world?  Hmm…. well ….I do believe in Christmas. The Christmas I believe in is a joyous time when we can put aside grievances, when wars have ceased fire and opposing sides have sung carols together across the no-mans’ land, when we stop and think about those less privileged than ourselves , when in the dark of winter we put our faith in the light of spring coming . I believe in that Christmas.

Here are the questions for my nominees .Thank you !

  1. What´s your favorite thing about Christmas?
  2. What´s your favorite Christmas memory?
  3. Are there special traditions your family has for Christmas?
  4. What´s your Christmas wish? (can be personal or general)
  5. What´s your favorite Christmas dish?
  6. What´s your favorite Christmas decoration?
  7. What´s your favorite Christmas song?
  8. Where do you usually celebrate Christmas?
  9. What does the “Christmas spirit” mean to you?
  10. Who out of anybody in the world would you want to spend your Christmas with?

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

I wrote a long comment on my phone, and it said that I wasn’t logged in. I so want Mince Pies and Bird’s custard. There are still the odd food items I miss, and sometimes I buy them, but they are so expensive here.

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Come up here. We have a local store here that has bakery goods and they make mince tarts that are delicious. I just ate one. And we have Birds custard in the grocery store.

      1. susiesopinions Avatar

I can’t even find jars of mince in the stores

        1. anne leueen Avatar

Well you’ll have to come to Canada. Our weather up here is pretty brutal though at this time of year!

          1. susiesopinions Avatar

It’s 80 degrees today, so I will enjoy my turkey, Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, 8 vegetables, and OXO gravy. Then walk the beach

    Lovely post and answers!

I had to comment that my family tradition (More like my dad’s tradition and he continues it on all of us if he must) is we watched It’s A Wonderful Life every Christmas Eve. I have watched it so much I can pretty much quote the entire film. There were many Christmas Eves though where we got busy or got home late, the film came on too late and I’d fall asleep on the couch. Haha. Glad to hear another family has a similar tradition.

This will be my first year away from my intermediate family and will be spending it for the first time with my husband and his family. Thinking him and I will have to start our own tradition and pick a film to watch every Christmas Eve. 🙂 I am thinking How The Grinch Stole Christmas the original, but will have to ponder some more before we pick one.

A few years ago my son was at a conference in Milan and met a woman whose father had written the book Wonderfull Life was based on. She told him her father would have been very happy to know his story had brought a family together at christmas. Thanks for your comment i love hearing your family enjoyed the same film.

That’s so great for your son! 🙂

In school he was always in trouble. Mischief maker and very smart. But as an adult it has all worked out well. I will miss not having him here this Christmas.

          1. xaspierudegirlx Avatar

Good to hear it all worked out in the end. I had trouble in school too, in the later years of high school it was like I got so bored of the curriculum, that or trying so hard in some subjects to still show up short that I started getting in a lot of trouble. Skipping classes, hanging out with the wrong crowd etc. They let me still graduate with my class, but had to go back for some extra school credit upon graduating. But I did it! 🙂 I think a lot of students get into mischief in school for many different reasons. The curriculum could be better imo. It needs to accommodate all different students, including intelligent students so they don’t get bored to death. Haha But that’s another story, just glad it worked out for him in the end. 🙂

Sorry you won’t see your son for Christmas, I will also be missing my family this year for Christmas as it will be my first time away from them. But excited to start new traditions and spend it with my husband’s family. 🙂

          2. anne leueen Avatar

Thank you for sharing your school experiences. School curriculums are one size and we know it doesn’t fit all students. But you have come through well and so has my son. Have a happy Christmas with your “second” family.
