We were out walking in the forest when my human, Ma Leueen says: “Next week, when I’m in the hospital, I’m going to think of this forest when they put me to sleep.”
PUT ME TO SLEEP!! I stopped dead in my tracks! When you humans say “put to sleep” you really mean “put to death”. We horses know that! So what I heard was that Ma Leueen was going to the hospital and they would put her to death! NO! NO! NO!
Then she gave me a pat and said :” No, I don’t mean they are going to kill me I mean they will give me something like they give you when the dentist does your teeth. It will just send me off to snooze land until they have taken out the bit they need to take out. ”
I breathed a sigh of relief. Let me tell you I was quite rattled. I am lucky that Ma Leueen knows me well, and we can communicate with each other, so she knew exactly why I was upset. But most humans think we are about as thick as two planks of wood. Well, I’m here to tell you we are not. We understand EVERYTHING you humans are talking about. Sometimes we get bored and tune out your babble but if we want to we can understand every single word!
For awhile I had been hearing other humans at the barn saying things like: “When is your surgery?” or “How long will you have to stay in the hospital?” and ” How long will it be before you can ride again?” So I knew something was up. Hospital is not good. I was worried. Very worried. Ma Leueen explained to me that she had to have something called a gall balloon taken out as it had filled up with pebbles. She told me she did not need it anymore and would get on fine without it. You humans are so odd. You have body parts that you don’t need. We horses use all of our body parts and especially all of our digestive body parts. But it seems humans have bits and pieces that can be removed with no ill effects. When she told me that it made me feel better.
But when she was gone I still worried. I tried to put a good face on it when Coach Belinda rode me the day Ma Leueen was in hospital but I was worried. But once I settled in for my evening meal I just knew that Ma Leueen was ok. How did I know that? Because we horses are able to communicate without words over distances. We don’t need those little gizmos you humans use to speak to one another over distance. We can transmit and receive thoughts directly. I knew. Ma Leueen was ok.
Now…..listen up humans…..I have something to say!
The next time you think horses are just stupid or dumb animals remember this.
- We hear and understand everything you say.
- We are more aware of everything around us than you humans are.
- We don’t need speech or language to communicate we are able to transmit pure thought.
Oh…before I bid you good day, Ma Leueen is back now and she has asked me to thank you for all your good wishes. She says that she got nice messages from all across the blogosphere. So, on her behalf, I thank you.
I’d love to hear from you!
