Last night there was a major disturbance at the Emirates Stadium in north London. A match between Arsenal ( English) and Cologne turned nasty when tens of thousands of fans turned up at the stadium with tickets that had originally been designated for the Arsenal fans. When you have tens of thousands of angry football fans there is a problem. However in the end there were no serious injuries and only five people were arrested. However there was a huge police presence ready for action. There were police with dogs on the pitch keeping the angry fans from storming the pitch and lines of police horses in riot gear in many places inside and outside the stadium. Here are some photos of horses in riot gear.

These horses are in very difficult situations working with crowds of people very close to them, sometimes these people are not in a calm frame of mind and may take their anger and aggression out on the horses and the police. These horses remain calm and do their job. Last night there could have been a much worse situation and the police, the horses and the dogs helped to keep things from getting worse and a lot more injuries taking place.

I’d love to hear from you!
