For the past 3.5 months we have been in Wellington Florida. This is Horse Central. Between the Winter Equestrian Festival at Wellington International ( formerly known at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center or PBIEC to its’ friends!) where there is a horse show that is the longest lasting one in the world spanning 12 weeks with literally thousands of horses competing in the hunter and jumper classes. Also there is the Global Dressage Festival with several CDI competitions ranging from 1* to 5*. Anywhere you go you can see signs like this.

The other day, while I was hand grazing Biasini, I decided to count how many horse trailers came past on the road at the front of the farm. In just three minutes I saw: two European style horse boxes, two four or six horse ,fifth wheel, truck and trailers, and two stock trailers that carry polo ponies. They can have up to 12 horses on those trailers. There are so many horses all on the move to the horse shows, or to the polo matches. At the barn where Biasini is staying there are five four horse trailers and one two horse trailer. Sometimes there will be a visiting horse. One visitor came in a very fancy trailer.

So that is a glimpse into my Horse Central world of the last few months. The shows have wound down and the snowbirds are heading north. My husband and I will be joining them early tomorrow morning as we drive home to Ontario. Biasini will follow later, with the other Oakcrest farm horses, in a commercial trailer. I’m sure he will be “Speaking” about it!
I’d love to hear from you!
