Monday Minstrel: The horse and the snake!

Horses appear frequently in Chinese Mythology. The seventh animal in the twelve year zodiac cycle is the horse. One reason for the swift horse’s low ranking is that all of the zodiacal animals raced across a river in order to determine the zodiac order. The Snake crossed the river by wrapping itself around the Horse’s hoof and frightened it as it reached the bank , so the Horse was delayed.

I was born in the year of the horse. I don’t know what that means except that last year was meant to be a difficult year for horses. It was! lol!

Fascinating artistry, my cousin learnt Chinese artistry, he became quite well known. We have ridden past many a snake even had them sliver under our horses, but so glad they didn’t hang on, goodness knows where we’d end up. lol

In Florida my horse has passed close by some lengthy( 3-4 foot) black snakes but he seems to know they are harmless.
