Biasini Speaks: Tracks and trails in the snow.

In the middle of the week Ma Leueen told me we were going out to the forest . I was delighted. As we were heading out one of the other Humans said: “Well you’re brave”. She said that because it was very cold. But Ma Leueen has a special quarter sheet for me that has a fleece lining. That helps to keep me warm. Here it is!

So off we went to the forest. The snow is very crunchy as it has some ice on it. I asked Ma Leueen to take some video so you could see the trail we went on. There were tracks of other horses, Humans, deer and other animals, some small and some bigger. I saw some tracks at the side of the trail and asked Ma Leueen to video some of them. She didn’t know what had made them. But I did. It was a big rabbit.

We had a nice long walk through the forest trails. On the way back to the barn we saw two other four leggeds. They crossed the path ahead of us. White tailed deer. In the photo below you can tell I had already spotted them. I have often seen these two, in the morning, as they walk along beside my paddock . Sometimes they come with other deer friends and relatives. The two who we saw are Hazel and Gertrude. Yes! They told me one time that’s what their names are. And why should I doubt them?

Then we went on down the hill to the big grass field. It is covered in deep snow now. When we took the loop around the back of the field I saw something. It was dark and lying on the ground, Danger! I quickly spun round and started to canter away. But Ma Leueen told me to get a grip on myself! It was just a big branch of an evergreen tree she said. She turned me back to it and I cautiously went past it. She was right it was just a tree branch. I felt a bit silly but it’s always better to be safe than sorry. If it had been a big black monster my reaction would have saved us. Ma Leueen knows that .

Till next time Dear Humans!

Hello dear Biasini! I can only see your ears in the video, and they tell me that you are always paying attention to what happens around you. I’m sure you enjoy the trail rides. And I agree with you, better to be safe than sorry even if being scared by a tree looks silly!

I was writing to Ma Leueen about right and left human hands and legs, and we both have a favourite hand (the one that writes) and Ma Leueen has noticed that also her legs show differences in precision of movement. I’m curious, do you also have a favourite side or leg? Is it something that Ma Leueen can notice when she rides?

Thanks a lot and stay safe during this snowy winter!

Hello Agishla Human! I am most interested in your comment about the left and right. I find doing things going to the right is harder for me. My neck doesn’t bend so well to the right. Ma Leueen says this is because I am stiff on the left. Also my right hind leg is not as strong as my left hind leg. I notice this most in canter work. But Ma Leueen has arranged something the Humans call PEMF work done on my body and I’ve been getting that for some months now and it helps me a lot. I feel stronger on my right side now. The person who does the PEMF checks me over before she starts and then works on the parts that are tight or sore. I like it. Thanks for saying hello!🐴

  4. Wow, you are brave and also look well after your Mum too. I know that feeling when something suspicious crosses the way while being outside. What an adventure anyway. Keep warm and save. Some warm licks. Catch up soon again. Mr T

You are the best, very brave and so smart Biasini! I Love hearing your steps in the snow. I lived for one year in our local mountains and we had sooo much snow and it was great fun for my kids. Back then I didn’t have any horses. I didn’t like the black ice that can happen which was more often than I liked. Anyways, I sometimes miss snow. We don’t ever see it here unless we drive to higher elevation. I’m so happy you told your Ma to take a video and share your forest rides!! 🀠❀️

Diana Human i am always happy to hear from you. Ma Leueen has told me about black ice. She says it is horrible to drive the car when there is black ice. I like the snow and I am doing ok with the cold although today it was super cold. Ma Leueen has put an extra liner inside my stable blanket. and my blanket for turn out is very nice and warm. Say hello to Chloe and Zack from me. Here’s some carrots for themπŸ₯•πŸ₯•πŸ₯•πŸ΄

Thank you Diana Human I love carrots. I am quite nice and warm. My blanket for turn out is new and it is fabulous. It has a great neck that does not let in any snow if it is snowing and a belly band to keep my tummy warm. 🐴
