Hello Dear Humans. My friend Touchie and I have had an adventure! Coach Belinda was away teaching somewhere so Super Groom Lexi rode Touchie and Ma Leueen was riding me. We went along the Goat Trail and then came out to the Blue Trail. We were just ambling along. Here is a few seconds on video SG Lexi took while we were walking. You can see my head is stretched down and I am completely relaxed.
But then we saw them on the trail up the hill.
There were two women wearing these long floaty dresses that wafted in the breeze. SG Lexi called to them to step aside as there were horses coming. They did that and stood aside in their floaty dresses. But that was not the problem. They had three male humans with them. Two were dressed in normal dark clothes and one was dressed in a really odd outfit. It was bright red (yes, we horses can see these colors!) and he had a bowl shaped red and gold thing on his head, sort of like a helmet. He had red trousers, red skirt, and a red and gold shirt. He was jumping up and down. And……..he had something in his hand. He was waving it over his head. It was shiny metal. Suddenly, my ancestor memories told me what it was. It was a weapon! A SWORD!
At the same instant as I recognized what it was, Touchie’s ancestor memories clicked in, and he recognized it too. “Danger!” he said and spun round. “I’m outta here!” “Me too,” I said and spun away from the sword swinging red demon. We had both spun round lightning fast but we did not want our Humans to fall off and be left in danger. So we did not buck or bolt. We just started to passage, very energetically, away from the danger. I even did a bit of piaffe. Quite good piaffe actually. So off we went piaffing and passaging along the trail until we knew we were safely away from the danger. SG Lexi and Ma Leueen talked about it all the way back to the barn. Neither they, nor any of the Humans at the barn, could figure out what the red sword-man was doing. Ma Leueen said they are from a different part of the world and maybe he was dressed for some sort of ceremony that we don’t know about . But here is the thing Dear Humans, Touchie and I saved our Humans from a Real Danger.
And now for something different. Ma Leueen got me a fabulous new pair of boots. Here is a photo. Pretty smart eh? And they are very comfortable!

Have a good week Dear Humans!
goodness what a scare & goodness for such wise horses!

It is possible the guy in red was the groom and one of the two women was the bride. But the sword? He clearly knows nothing about horses. But he wanted to prove he was a big brave guy🤣

And what amaze me is you both are ready to go again there. To me this is not simple dear Biasini, to me this is great, this is wonder. My respect to you and Ma

It’s amazing the fancy moves you horses can do when excited…piaffe, passage….😄

Well Alli Human we didn’t want to take off at q gallop and have our Humans fall off. So we opted for some passage and piaffe. Horses used to do those in the battlefields too. Thanks for commenting!🐴

well Biasini – what a hero you were! Saving Ma Leueen from danger along with your friends is quite an accomplishment! Such a bizarre group to come across. You must tell Ma Leueen to check the newspapers to see if there was some kind of a fair or other event in any of the nearby towns. Whatever the case, great job!

It was bizarre Tina Human. And there are no events happening here because they have stopped gatherings of Humans because of the Vye Rus. But thank you for mentioning i was brave. Touchie and me ,we know it is our job to look after our Humans.🐴

Biasini, you and Touchie did the right thing by turning around. You never, ever want to cross paths with the unusual or the bizarre. Fortunately, when us horses trail ride, we do it on private property – on our own land or the neighboring cattle ranch.

Biasini… not only speaks, but he is a cute teller of stories too, 😀 quite attentive to detail and everything, and on those wonderful trails covered in autumn leaves… so lovely!
Enjoy your brand new pair of boots, Biasini! As smart as yourself, of course. 🙂

Oh my goodness! What an adventure and odd fellows out on your trail ride. Glad everyone is safe, I know how those different things can be since I ride trails here. I Love your new boots! They look very comfortable! 🐴❤️

Thank you Diana Human. This was the oddest experience I have ever had out in the forest. Most of thr Humans we meet are normal Humans but this one with the sword was just not right. My boots are very comfortable as they have nice soft fur on the inside. 🐴

Aww Biasini , it sounds as if these people were not familiar with how to behave around horses! So glad you and Touchie kept everyone safe! xxx

I agree Xenia Human. The man with the sword was weird for sure. Touchie and me know we have to keep our Humans safe. We’re good that way. 🐴

Time-travelers from the Middle Ages?? Every summer, except this one, canceled due to the pandemic, they hold a big Renaissance Faire in Sterling, NY, and lots of the visitors dress up. I believe they usually have some similar events in Ontario, although I’ve never attended any there. But you’d think even the sometimes-kooky enthusiasts wouldn’t jump around and wave a sword near horses. Well Biasini, glad to hear it awakened a few ancestral memories of days of yore! And you didn’t panic, good for you!

Thank you Robert Human. Ma Leueen thinks it is something from a different culture. But for me it was a danger so best to get our Humans away from it but go carefully. 🐴

I trail ride in an area where we often encounter backpackers. As soon as we see them we start engaging them in conversation. Sometimes we explain that the horses are unsure of the hump on their back we need for them to talk to us so the horse recognizes them as not a bear. Works for us the majority of the time. We often end up stopping and chatting with them. This makes for a pleasant experience for all.

That is what we usually do too but this was a very different experience. Perhaps they did not speak English. And the red costume and sword are not like the usual forest walkers we meet.
