Biasini Speaks: A Day in my Florida Life!

Hello again Dear Humans! I thought you might like to know how I spend my days here in Florida over the winter. I will put the events in Human time to make it easier for you to understand.

7:00 am I am awake, of course, and waiting for breakfast to be served.

7:30 am Breakfast is served. A nice flake of delicious hay goes onto the floor of my stall, in the corner, and my wet feed is put into my feed bucket. I always enjoy my breakfast.

8:00 am Friend Jose and Lady Any come to walk us out to the big paddocks out at the front. My friend and lifeguard, Khan and I both go into a big paddock together. We can have a nice roll in the sandy ground and then spend the morning nibbling on the grass or just sunbathing.

This is the driveway that they lead us on to get to our paddocks.

12:00 Jose and Lady Any bring us back to our rooms and we have a nice snack of hay waiting for us and our rooms have been perfectly cleaned and have nice fresh shavings on the floor.

12:30 Ma Leueen arrives and gets me brushed up , my legs wrapped and my saddle and bridle on for our training session with Coach Lou.

1:00pm -1:45pm Ma Leueen and I are working with Coach Lou directing us. I use the word “directing” but he is sometimes pretty demanding. Nice guy, don’t get me wrong but he makes us WORK HARD!! Here is a photo of the arena we work in.

1:45 -3:00 pm Ma Leueen has a bucket of water waiting for me, and as soon as she takes my bridle off, I have a nice drink. Then she gives me a bath. It’s hot here in Florida so I am always sweating when we are training and it is nice to have a bath to cool off. Then Ma Leueen rubs some stuff on me to make my coat look good and keep bugs off me. Then she rubs some stuff on my lower legs. It feels cool and hot at the same time. Sometimes she also puts special boots on my hind legs. They are very cold and make my legs feel nice and cool. And then I start to get impatient because I know what is coming next. Carrots! I stamp my front feet and Ma Leueen always says there will be NO carrots for me if I keep that up. So I stand still. Then I get my carrots. I have to do special stretches to one side and then the other to get them but they are easy for me to do.

3:00 pm Back to my stall and I finish up my hay snack. Then I look out the back window because I like to do that. It always looks so nice out there. There are smaller paddocks that some horses go out in during the morning.

My friends Big E , who is right next to me, and Kahn also like to look out their back windows.

Me and my pals looking out our back windows.

4:00 pm I can look out of the front of my stall as well. I do that when our afternoon feeding time is getting close to see if Friend Jose is coming with our meals.

After my afternoon meal I like to have a little nap. Later Big E and Khan and me talk about how our training sessions went and other stuff.

9:00pm. Its dark now but we horses know that our last meal of the day is coming! Friend Jose, or sometimes Ma Leueen’s friend Nancy who is Khan’s Human bring us our night meal.

And that , Dear Humans is the end of our day. I am enjoying my time down here in Florida. Ma Leueen tells me it has been very very very cold at home and the horses there have to walk out to their paddocks on the ICE! I am so glad I am not there!

Till next time Dear Humans.

Hi Biasini! Do you know when Ma Leueen plans on returning to Canada? This human was just wondering…

Hello Gayle Human. I have not asked Ma Leueen because I am so happy here I do not want to think about it coming to an end. But I know we are going to a show at the beginning of the next month and Ma Leueen says that is our last show. So soon after that I suppose. 🐴

My dear Human Friend Subbashini I am sorry to hear you do not have anything green to look at from you window. I hope you can find other things in your view to make you happy. I 🐴

It all looks luxurious (especially that indoor training area). For some reason, I am wondering what Tia the dog is up to whilst you are here. Does she pop by and visit you?

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Hello Emma Human. Tia the Dog is here in Florida. She stays with Ma Leueen’s other half during the daytime. But she comes to the horse shows and hangs out with me. She is pretty good about it even though the last show was hot. Other dogs are not as well behaved as Tia at shows. So I’m happy to have her around.

Glad to hear Tia’s around, and well-behaved!

Enjoy your warm climate…the snow is still in the northland. Your day is busy just like us dogs. Theses humans keep wanting to go for walks and such. Best regards…Gavin and Wyatt the dogs

Thanks for commenting Gavin and Wyatt. I don’t like the cold much so I’m happier here in the winter. Sounds like your humans keep you busy. Best regards to you too🐴

Sounds like Biasini has a life to covet.

Um, Biasini, I hate to quibble with your timetable, but I do think you are shortchanging Ma Leueen if you really think she can get you “brushed up, my legs wrapped and my saddle and bridle on for our training session” in a half hour if you’ve been out rolling in the sand.

What a busy day, Biasini! And we have something in common – I love carrots too!

Robyn Human I am so happy to hear you like carrots. They are delicious aren’t they? Thanks for this comment🐴

You have a wonderful winter home, Biasini. Too bad you can’t send some of that warmth and sunshine to you friends in Canada.

    1. anne leueen Avatar

I agree Sandy Human. When I go home I will be careful not to say too much about how fabulous my winter has been. I appreciate your comment. 🐴
