Home Safe and Sound

As you may have gathered Biasini insisted on “speaking”about his trip home . He informed me I could put up a post on the “blob” about my trip later!

As said in my previous post about our trip home we now do it over four days. When we did it in three days we had to be on the road by 7 and pressing on till dark. This time we would get up have some breakfast and then drive with no pressure and arrive at the place we would stay overnight by 5:30 at the latest.

Our first night we stayed in Jacksonville which is in North Florida. The next day we set off and were still enjoying much greenery. A we got father north we saw the white blooms of the dogwood. Also there was a very attractive purple blooming shrub. I don’t know what it is and if you do please let me know in the comments below. Here is a photo.

Our second night we were in Statesville. We headed north to West Virginia on day 3 and the Appalachian mountains. Here we went through a long tunnel the had been cut through the mountian! Here is a video. And yes there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Third night we were in Morgantown not too far from Pittsburgh. Now noticed the roads were not flanked by flowering trees and the branches had small buds but no leaves.

Day four we headed to Buffalo NY and the Canadian border. The customs official seemed surprised we had been away for 3.5 months and had not bought anything much apart from a small board game for our Grandson. I didn’t like to tell him that all my money is spent on my horse!! He waved us through and then I felt we had gone back in time to a more winter like scene. My travel mascot George was not too sure about it!

However when we got to our home a few hours later there were some signs of spring.

This past week we have had summer weather. Well above average temperatures! But that is all about to change and the forecast for Tuesday morning mentions snow showers!!!Yup. So there you have it.

I would like to submit the daffodils and tulip for Cees Flower of the Day challenge. and also for Dawn’s Festival of Spring 2023

I think I saw this post pop up earlier but didn’t stop to read 🙁 Glad you reshared for Sunday Stills, Anne! That is quite the road trip–just wanting to get home and push through! Nature put on a great show for you as you traveled. Cute road mascot (I just read another blogger’s road trip with her two stuffed dragons)! I think many of us in the northern hemisphere had weather whiplash that seems unending–hot here in the Spokane, WA area this weekend, too. I know you are happy to be home and working with Biasini’s recovery <3

I don’t know about anyone else but I would hate to have the lights go off in that tunnel 😜

Welcome home Anne, glad you made it safe and sound and it sounds like the extra day made it a much more comfortable excursion. Now you don’t have to think about it again for many months!! Happy spring to you AND Biasini!

Thanks Patti. It’s nice to be away in the winter but also good to be home.

So, what is it like being home, eh? 🙂
I hope you didn’t get into the line of a would-be disapproving customs agent. “You spent how much on your horse?”

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Nope I would avoid that discussion for sure 😄

    2. anne leueen Avatar

It’s good being home eh. I caught that Canadian eh in your comment. 😊

Fast, fast note to say we’re out here at T-Bird. We haven’t met anyone who says “eh” just yet. (LOL)

No you won’t it’s an Eastern mainly Ontario thing.

Now that is a very, very long tunnel!! What beautiful country you get to drive thru on your way home and so smart to take your time and add an extra day. I love hearing those southern accents and enjoying local eateries along the way sounds delicious. Its so wonderful seeing Spring appear with all the beautiful blooms! 🌞🌹🌻

Welcome home Anne, it looks like a much more pleasant journey doing it over four days. So interesting to see the different stages of flowers, leaves and buds along the road and great you were greeted by spring flowers in your own garden too 💚🌷 xxx

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Yes Xenia taking it slower is much easier on us. Also stopping long the way we get to hear the different local accents. We also like to stop for lunch at smaller restaurants and that is very entertaining too!

You weren’t too far from me when you were in West Virginia. I tried to see in the video where you were but it is marked private.
Looks like a nice trip, and isn’t it so much better to just take that extra day instead of wearing yourselves out? That’s the beauty of getting older, I suppose.

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Oh I thought I had made the video public. I’ll have to check that.

    2. anne leueen Avatar

I have made it public now so you can see it. The tunnel entrance just says East River Mountain.
