FOTD: The Bottle Brush

Spring has arrived in South Florida.I have been coming here for many years now and I know that the bottle brush’s red blossoms are a sure sign of spring.

It must be so colourful there in Florida, Anne, with all those beautiful and flamboyant trees, shrubs and flowers. Meanwhile in the uk, we have snowdrops and crocus. 🙂

I had a beautiful willow bottlebrush tree, but with 3 hurricanes coming across Florida in close timeframe, I lost my tree.

It was the only thing we lost. Did get a little water in the house but extremely lucky 😁

“Bottle Brush” is a good name but kind of utilitarian-sounding, such a pretty flower should have a fancier name, a different “nom de plume” seems appropriate, it looks like the plumes the marching bands wear on their hats.

I think they are very attractive. I first saw them in Australia and now here in Floriida.
