Your horse is clipped. Now he’s itchy! What can you do?

Biasini has had his first body clip.I always find that after the clip he gets itchy and his skin seems dry. Also there is little shine to his coat. What to do?I spray him with Omega Alpha’s Herba Coat and use a soft brush to brush it into his coat. It contains citronella, lavender, neem oil, aloe vera, sunflower oil, glycerin, and water. I know Herba Coat is meant to be used after baths and in the warmer weather that is just how I use it. But this is a remarkable use in midwinter. Below is a photo of Biasini with his clip. And can you see there is shine in his coat.

So if you want to help your horse with post clip dry skin try Omega Alpha’s Herba Coat. I know I have posted about this use of Herba Coat before but I felt it was worth mentioning it again.

Do you know of a remedy for rain scalds?

That is not something inhave had to deal with. I believe it affects horses that are outdoors and are not wearing rain sheets. I do know it is a big problem for lots of horses. B iasini once had something similar on the back of his pattern due to damp and muddy conditions. I got a cream from the vet that cleared it but I had to keep it as dry as possible which was tricky. However it did clear up. I know there are socks for horses that help to keep their lower leg dry but I didn’t have to use those.

Thanks. My daughter’s horses are paddock horses with a bit of shelter of course.
She seems to be treating them a lot for scalds. It’s a minor problem of where we live
