Biasini has had his winter coat clipped. Horses grow in a thicker winter coat but if they are in work and training then they sweat and it is hard to get them dried off enough to put on their blankets for the nighttime. Biasini’s legs have not been clipped and will keep his legs warmer until we get to Florida where Super Groom Lexi will give him a second clip. He also has a patch on his side to give him some protection from riders ankles and spurs that are used to give aids . This is my response to Terri’s Sunday Stills Monthly Color challenge Leather and Shades of Brown.

Biasini’s looking good in his leg warmers, Anne 😃

HaHa!😄 Yes they are leg warmers! Unlike us Biasini can grow his own leg warmers! Thanks Jez for this comment!

Wow, how interesting, Anne. And your treasure looks so handsome. Btw, my dad always used to call any weight gain he had from holiday overeating his “winter coat.”

HaHA well thats a good one. In the winter Biasini usually loses some weight so recentley we have added some extra rice bran to his meals. He loves it so that is good and it keeps his weight on nicely.

Oh, I’ve heard of horses getting their coats clipped, but I didn’t fully understand why. That makes a lot of sense!

Always happy to give people more info about horses. Thanks for leaving a comment.
