The last of the leaves. Week 5.

This is week five of the Festival of Leaves. I think it may be my last week as the leaves are falling fast. Here is a photo of our road taken at the same spot as the previous weeks. You can see that several branches are bare.

Road lined with olden and orange maples in autumn.

This next photo is taken of the trees at the south border of our property. The one green tree on the right is an ornamental plum whose leaves are still green.

Maple tree golden in autumn. Ground is covered with fallen leaves from the maples.
Maple trees in autumn leaves have fallen to the ground as well.
This is the view across the road from us. The lawn is covered with leaves. I think that soon all the leaves will be on the ground. This may be my last week to have photos for Dawn’s Festival of Leaves. But this year we have had such spectacular colors I have really enjoyed having the chance to take photos of these colorful leaves.

You are a little ahead of us here in Montana. We are getting some good color but still have a lot of green. I absolutely love your trees with the red in them! Beautiful!!

Here in Michigan we have had probably the strongest color explosion of leaves I have ever seen outside of the famous New England colors. It almost slaps your eyes to look at them. Ours have just passed their peak and are starting to decline. I hope people wait till they’ve all fallen before starting to rake them up. I love the look of the leaf “carpet” on the ground.

Interesting to know you have had these colors too. The Indigenous people say it may forecast a harsh winter. They say the bright red signifies hope and we must have hope that spring will come.

Beautiful!! And way too soon to go away! Maybe you could give the local kids tubes of superglue and send them up there in those trees to keep the leaves on!!
