Monday Minstrel: What to do on a cold damp day.

Our week finished with a cold, dreary and damp day. I am not doing arena work due to my hip issues so I decided to go for a forest ride despite the weather. I have a fleece lined rain coat that is designed for riding. It has a zip at the back below the waist so it can be opened up to go out over the back of the saddle. Also it has flaps in the inside that can be zipped together to cover my legs and the front of my saddle. The arms are good and long and the cuffs come down over my wrists. So I am warm and comfortable and dry.

But what about Biasini?

I have a quarter sheet that has a fleece lining and a waterproof top layer. It is a good big fit and so it goes out over his hind end and can also reach right up to his chest and has a velcro fastening that I can attach at the front of my saddle. So he is also warm and dry.

There was a nasty cold wind but inside the forest there was no wind and it was quiet and peaceful. Lots of lovely fall colors to be seen as well. And…the sound of Biasini’s hooves walking through the fallen leaves.

Nasty cold…though the sun peacefulness of your horse makes it acceptable

    Sounds very peacefully beautiful, Anne.

I love the forest because it is calm and peaceful. The colors are amazing at the moment.
