Monday Minstrel: How Long?

How long have horses been with us? This is a craving on a wall in Angkor Wat dating from the 11th Century. Angkor means “city” and “wat” means temple. Here the horse is featured as an important part of the army .They may be on their way to a battle.

Angkor Wat, temple complex at Angkor, near Siemreap,Cambodia, that was built in the 12th century by King Suryavarman II (reigned 1113–c. 1150). It is the world’s largest religious structure, covering some 400 acres (160 hectares), and marks the high point of Khmer architecture.

Horses have been with us for millenia and they have served with us in wars and in our daily lives.
