Three Favorites:LAPC

This week Sarah of Travel with Me has hosted the Lens Artists Photo Challenge and given us the challenge or picking 3 favorite photos. Not an easy one but here are mine.

Isabel Werth overcome with emotion at the end of her dressage test at the World Equestrian Games 2018.
This is a photo of Isabel Werth, one of the most decorated dressage riders in the world. She has just finished her test at the FEI World Equestrian Games in Tryon NC 2018. Isabel is a not known for showing her emotions. But here she is overcome. Her horse Bella Rose had an injury 4 years earlier and it was a very difficult one. There were times when Isabel thought the mare would never return to competition. But she never gave up hope and here at WEG the mare came through and Isabel won the Gold Medal. I had media accreditation for the Games and I liked to take up a position at the end of the ring where I could get a shot of the horse and rider, immediately after they finish their test, and salute the judge. They always turn to the right as that is where the stadium stands held the biggest crowd of people who would be applauding and cheering. And I could get my shot.
Red Chihuly glass sculpture reflected in water.
This is the Chihuly exhibition at Kew Gardens . I love this glass sculpture and also the reflection in the ripples of the water.

Family and horse. Child giving horse treat from his hand

This is a photo I just snapped with my phone. It is our daughter and her family. Our son in law has our Grandson on his shoulders and he is giving a treat to the horse. This is not just any horse .This horse was ridden by my coach in the 2016 Rio Olympics. He is retired now but still loves to get a treat and some attention. This photo was taken in the summer of 2021 when we were all still in Covid lockdowns and wearing our masks. What do I love about this photo? Can you see how delicately the Olympic horse is taking the treat from that little hand? He knows he must be extra careful. That is what I love about horses. They just know.

Beautiful shots! I can sense these moments mean a lot to you. The first shot deserves as much applause as the horse and the rider.

Wonderful favorites, Anne. Love the emotions in the first and Chihuly is always a great capture. Sweet family photo at the end. 😊

These are great pictures, Anne. I love the emotional one. It’s rare in my experience to capture a close up of someone struggling with deep emotion as that woman clearly is. Fabulous. I love Chihuly. We had an exhibit here at the Frank Lloyd Wright house or school when Vince and I visited earlier this year. He is fabulous. Finally, what could be better than to have people and horses you love in a photo to remember for all time? You can be sure that your grandson will remember that moment for the rest of his life. 🙂 How are you doing?

I am good. Able to walk with a cane now and can give the walker a rest except for long walks.

I’m glad to hear that. It’s a long battle, isn’t it? It was a year yesterday since I tore my meniscus. I go tomorrow for an ultra sound and MRI to see if it still needs to be repaired after finishing up my vein surgeries. I’ve never had anything – even cancer take so long to get back to normal, so my heart goes out to you.
