Belinda Trussell Rides Biasini.

There is one plus to having fractured my hip and not being able to ride. It is having amazing professionals who ride Biasini and I can watch them! On Wednesday morning, my coach, Belinda Trussell , rode Biasini. As she was walking him at the start of the session we talked about Biasini being a horse who is not ready to retire. He enjoys his job and likes to know he is important. Belinda said he likes his daily turnout but is not madly keen about it. She said she thinks he is amazing to ride and that when she rides him she does not want to put too much pressure on him but when she asks him if he could do something just a little bit better he always responds positively. She doesn’t think he needs to learn new things. He already knows all of the advanced movements he needs to know.

Belinda started the warm up with a stretching trot. I know that Biasini loves the stretch.

As you can see he stretches his head and neck down and that loosens and warms up his back.

Then they moved on to canter work and Belinda picked him up into a higher frame.

You can see in this photo how well he is using his back to bring his hind legs under him. His shoulders are up in front. This is the ideal frame for a dressage horse.

Belinda did some forward and back (back to a very collected canter) and Biasini gave her some very expressive flying changes on the diagonal.

Here Belinda prepares Biasini for a flying change with a half halt.

After the canter work Belinda gave Biasini a walk break and then did a short bit of walk work. Here is a video of a walk pirouette. It may look simple but doing one correctly is not easy.

Biasini listens to Belinda’s aids and does a nice walk pirouette .He is rewarded with a pat.

Then they went on to some trot work.If you select full screen you can see more of how Belinda uses half halts to prepare Biasini

They start with travers (haunches in)on the long side and then cross the arena on the diagonal.Belinda asks Biasini for more cadence (air time in the trot) and then they continue.

Belinda was happy with Biasini and how he had responded to her. So they called it a day and Belinda took Biasini for a walk around the big paddocks at the front of the barn to let him relax and unwind.

I would love to be riding myself but it is a joy to see my horse going so well and looking wonderful.

This week Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge is: What Brings a Smile to my face. Watching my horse ridden by Belinda certainly makes me smile.
