The Next Generation!

Today I had the opportunity to watch the Under 25 Grand Prix Freestyles of the Nations Cup competition at the Global Dressage Festival. There were two Canadians in this class and I was eager to see them . The first Canadian was Camille Carier Bergeron riding Sound of Silence.

Their test started with a nice square halt.
Then on in perfect timing to their music in passage.
Canter work and flying changes.
Coming down the final centerline Camille is smiling.
Camille gives Sound of Silence a big pat at the end of the test.

The next Canadian rider was Vanessa Creech-Terauds. Before she started her test Vanessa gave her mare, Fleurs de Lis, a pat of reassurance.

I loved this mare and her expressive flying changes.
They also showed nice passage.
Half pass.
Extended trot.
On the sleeve of Vanessa’s jacket there is a Young Rider badge. This means she has ridden for Canada in the Young Rider division in the past.
At the end of the test Vanessa flung both arms round the mare because she knew the mare had done her very best for her.

Camille and Sound of Silence had an excellent score of 72.23% for First Place! Close behind her was Benjamin Ebeling riding for the USA with 72.05% for second place. Vanessa was just out of the top three with 70.03%

Here are some photos of the Awards presentations.

Camille has the Gold Medal!
Sound of Silence wonders if the groom might have a treat for him since he helped his rider win the gold medal!
After the Canadian National Anthem was played the top three mounted up for the Victory round. As the Gold Medallist Camille did the final Victory Round,on her own, with Sound of Silence.

This weekend I have been lucky enough to see some of the top Canadian dressage riders and seeing these two talented young women do so well, in the Grand Prix freestyles, I feel certain that the next generation is very well represented.🍁

Yes and for Camille it was a hat trick , her third gold medal as she had won all the U25 classes.

Impressive considering one never knows how a horse will react and perform on the larger stage.

I enjoyed this, Anne, and the photos are great. It’s heart-warming to see the appreciation of the riders for their horses. Thank you for sharing this with us . . . I just want to go out and throw my arms round a horse right now! 😀 (the dogs will have to accept my cuddles for now, lol)
