This Moment!

Be present . Be present in the moment. We all know about this. Being present and being in the now. The past is gone and cannot be changed . No point in going back there. The future ? Not here yet.

I know all this and yet I often have trouble being present in the moment. But today the moment reached up and grabbed me. I was out on the forest trails with Biasini. The weather has been dry so the leaves that carpeted the forest floor were crunching as Biasini walked through them. I listened to the rhythm of his footfalls 1, 2, 3, 4. It was like a moving meditation. Then we turned onto the trail heading for home. I saw this.

I stopped . Biasini also stopped. I took out my phone and captured this autumn scene. Then we walked on. That moment. It made me realize how much I have to be grateful for .

  1. My low back injury is better and I am able to be back riding and training with my coach Belinda Trussell.
  2. It had threatened rain. It sputtered a bit but then the clouds moved on and there was blue sky.
  3. I have a horse who loves to go out to the forest and is calm and safe for me to ride on the trails.

That was my Moment today!

I could almost hear the leaves reading this. Glad you stopped to savor the moment and share it.

Absolutely gorgeous! We should stop more often and get in the moment!

A sublime moment indeed, Anne! Thanks for the reminder to enjoy the present (my planning brain is always moving forward). A ride in those Autumn woods sounds like the best meditation.

Thanks for commenting Terri. Going out to the forest is a terrific mental break for me horse and for me.

What a beautiful moment! 🍂 Gorgeous photo, you are so lucky to have that beauty right there on the trails and what a wonderful reminder to be in the moment. It’s funny how I might fret about the future and we can’t go back in the past. Great reminder to just be in the moment and enjoy!! Here’s some carrots and an apple for Biasini! 🍎🥕🥕❤️

I fret about the future as well so you are not alone! Thank you for the carrots and apple and , of course, for leaving this nice comment.

It is a form of meditation, for both participants, and better for the sharing of the moment in that moment that will never come again but will always be remembered/relived as a moment of fresh air/breath.

    1. anne leueen Avatar

Thank you Cage for this comment. Yes, it is a memory that will live with both of us as a special shared memory.

This is a grand reminder of thr importance of “being present.” I imagine Biasini noticed the beauty too.

    1. anne leueen Avatar

I think he did. He stood still while I took the photo, with his ears forward, and his attention on the trail. Thanks for commenting J.W.S.

Anne, I read your comment on Paula Light about followers and to satisfy my curiosity so I took a look, . . . just saying. . . it’s your pictures. I’ve been on a horse probably twice, but when my granddaughter showed interest, found riding lessons for her. Unfortunately, the instructor pushed her to be competitive and she dropped out. She had a real connection seemed to talk or whisper, something to them although I never saw her lips move. Anyway I hope she’ll have good memories. Claudia

Not every rider is cut out to be a competitor. I hope your Grandaughter may be able to find an instructor that is just interested in having her ride and be with horses. Such instructors do exist but they have to be searched for.

LOL! For a moment I was confused and thought this was one of my photos! Our saddle views are similar.

    1. anne leueen Avatar

And the best views are through chestnut ears!

I have been a member of the Midnight riders for so long, those red ears still throw me!

Anne, you captured a gorgeous moment. So glad you are able to enjoy it with Biasini. 😊

Thank you Irene. It was interesting that Biasini stopped and waited for me to take the photo. Usually he fidgets and wants to keep moving.

What a perfect moment – the golden trees and the copper of Biasini’s hair! 😀 It’s really lovely in the woods just now. The dogs and I have been enjoying it too. I’m glad you’re back injury is healing, Anne. It makes such a difference when we don’t have that kind of pain to deal with.
These kinds of moments are the best ones – when we’re not striving to make them happen. They arrive all by themselves and we’re filled with the joy of living right then and there.
Thank you for such a lovely post!

      You are most welcome Lssley.

Congratulations Anne, bring in the moment takes a great deal of effort and patience, it’s hard for everyone to accomplish. Beautiful walk and crunching leaves must have been magical.
