Weird and Wonderful! LAPC #171

This week the Lens Artists photo challenge is Weird and Wonderful given to us by Ann-Christine .Well…here goes!

All you need is an interesting hat and a smart cigarette holder when in Hackney.
Every balcony should have a well dressed mannequin!
Break time for office workers who enjoy playing ping pong on the Embankment .
The arrow pierces this heart!

This is a dangerous hind end! The red ribbon warns that this horse may kick!

This is a BIG horse but there is no danger from this hind end!

Thank you Ann-Christine for this fun challenge. If anyone would like to see some of the other very entertaining responses to this challenge click here to see Ann -Christine’s post and in the comments see the links to the other responses.

Terrific examples Anne. Interesting factoid about the red ribbon. Who knew?!

It is a horse thing that riders know to be wary in the warm up arenas. There are usually several horses in the warm up and if you see that ribbon you know not to get too close to that horse.

I really liked the way you themed the iamges so they linked.

I thought you were kidding about the red ribbon. Now I know. I think it would be fun to put a mannequin on a balcony to see how many people stop and talk of it….and now we are. lol. A fun look at weird and definitely wonderful. Donna

Some people are just so cool, I love all the pics. How tolerant must that big beautiful horse be, they truly are gentle giants. That was fun.

So glad you enjoyed the photos. That big horse is a Belgian Draft horse and they have such wonderful temperaments.

Well, indeed some very weird – and wonderful – things found, Anne! That man in the hat looks very special…and I didn’t know about the red ribbon – thank you for telling!

The man in the hat is a character for sure! And the red ribbon is used for when the horses are warming up and there may be several horses in the warm up arena at the same time. So when you see the red ribbon you know not to come up behind that horse! Thanks for this fun challenge Ann-Christine!

Definitely capture some weirdness here, Anne! Do you know what the gentleman with the huge derby was up to? Trying to get admitted to Mensa by advertising the size of his cranium? And my gosh the horse in your final photo really is kind of a giant! Very fun post!

    1. anne leueen Avatar

I’m glad you enjoyed the post Robert. No idea what the bowler hat man was up to . He is probably one of those English eccentrics. The photo was taken on a busy Saturday morning at the Hackney market. The horse in the last photo is a Belgian Draft horse. They are big but even tempered horses that are used as work horses.

Interesting markings to know if horse will kick or not! Learned something.

    1. anne leueen Avatar

The red ribbon on the tail is a warning especially for the warm up arenas to stay back or if you crown too close you may be kicked! Glad to know I gave you some information that may be useful.
